A Living Prayer

In 1776, Thomas Paine wrote: "These are the times that try men's souls ". How true today.

I woke up this morning and my soul was troubled. Then I went to prayer and found Psalm 73. Verses 25 and 26 spoke to my heart.

Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.

My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever. (NIV)

Then I went to read from the blog "Jolly Blogger" and found the following posted: "A Living Prayer" by Alison Krauss.

I need to remember that Jesus alone holds my hand. My prayer for you is that He will hold your hand too.

The first verse of the old Gospel song "Jesus Hold My Hand" by Albert E. Brumley tells it well.

As I travel through this pilgrim land there is a Friend who goes with me.
Leads me safely thro' the sinking sand, it is the Christ of Calvary.
-
This would be my pray'r, dear Lord, each day to help me do the best I can,
For I need Thy light to guide me day and night,
Blessed Jesus, hold my hand.
